For the first time ever, I have two grandsons racing in the same pack. So, I am trying to provide each with exactly the same quality of materials for their respective build.

I found that if I gather 12 cubes for the 'behind rear axle' position, the groups had different weights. Checking further I see a variance of up to 1/3 gram (4.60g vs. 4.93g) per cube. Granted, this is the max variance I had, but in my mind, the weights are either equal, or they are not. Now, each grandson will get equal build packages along with a lesson in how to judge tungsten cubes.

I’ve found that the heavier cubes are actually slightly larger.

That is interesting, I will check mine out.

Some react more to a magnet also, which I believe indicates a greater presence of steel. Don't quite me on that because I don't really know for sure.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the slight differences in your tungsten cubes. You could mix and match them in an attempt to make it as equal as possible for your scouts. The faster car will probably come down to which one has the better alignment, wheel bores and prep. This hobby comes down to the sum of many variables working together.

    Good Luck!
