Did Minions and JBD get that much faster or did QT Kinser and few other pros slow Down a bit?

They just had the right combo this time around, in either case, my 42' tune wasn't good enough for this track as may have been the case for some others.

I believe Minions found more speed. He has always done well. Then he took pony express thread about alignment and ran with it.

He probably had been working on a prep that was giving him success, then added a better building/alignment process and now we see his results.

Obviously Minions has figured out several things that the rest of us are clueless about. At this level cars just don't flat out blow the doors off other cars unless it's something totally different. New prep process w/ faster lube and spray. More efficient weight placement. I think SpaceWalker and him are using the same techniques. I don't think any of the Big Dogs slowed down. Think about it, Minions was proxy and still able to overcome the cars that had the advantage of being finely tuned to/on the official track- now that's impressive and virtually impossible unless some new groundbreaking technology was in place.

Minions was live and there is a huge difference between 42' and 63'. I'll have to see what happens at the next 42" race before I make any judgement calls.

Chris, you were great all around. And I think that's cool that Minions was able to witness his victories in person- his hard work paid off and now he has some great memories. He's gonna be tough to beat this fall!

One thing for sure, this fall I'm racing SS Am instead of pro.I wouldn't have cracked the top ten with my SS in the Am class and I am virtually tapped for speed. Time to start testing new products I guess.

    TRE,

Good question you threw out there. Painting it with a broad paint brush ... As the cycle of this sport goes, dominance these days can be passed around. The day of standing on top for season after season is OVER. Which is refreshing in my humble opinion. Every great racer has there day, and ruling the top "for ever long that might be" is a monumental task that VERY few will achieve. QT and Kinser are great racers and will be at the top for times to come. They have educated the up and coming class. Which is the spirit and mind set of NPWDRL. To be at the top takes hour after hour in the shop, reading, testing and spending money! LOL... Total focus on your development to be on top, Minions has hit his stride as a lot of you have. QT and Kinser are deeply involved in the future of the league and running the nuts and bolts R&D for all of us. They have given up some of that shop "focus" time. This is not an excuse, but the natural progression.

    OR....

They are getting OLD and SLOW like me!!!![IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Hi Chris,

Thanks so much again for your effort to help make the party happen.

From my angle it did not look like there were many wigglers out there, but judging from the outcomes this new track is like comparing apples to oranges.

Do you believe it was a matter of steer that helped some builders excel?

Everyone live had a chance to tune there cars and they did.. whether they did or not its was there choice... Far as finding more speed... My new prep was debut at Nationals and worked well I would by say it was all new but I made alot of changes and added 3 more steps to my prep process.. I believe I found more speed. My cars was just as fast at 42 as 63... And being live also helps..

Tre , he'll be faster by then... Just think- his new process is a proven winner and still in its infancy. Now it's all about refinig the process. I'd say he's got at least 5 hundreths more speed to be unlocked. And whatever Minions new process is, well, that's speed I wouldn't even dare dream of obtaining- at least in this lifetime.

Now that ol JBD is an official big dog- I wondered what breed would be fitting. Since he's the Juggernaut of this sport I think the tallest breed seems fitting, a Scottish Deerhound. [IMG]

Congrats on the success JBD, you earned it! It's easy to see the time and effort you put in to get the results! Congrats to Minions also!

I'm glad to hear you say that being live and tuning helps. I've only raced twice in league an believe that being live has been played down to make proxy racers feel better about it and not get discouraged. I know there is a difference and I accept the handicap of not having a track and proxy racing for right now. Most of my cars wiggled and lost time. This actually encourages me because I know there is still speed to pick up with just tuning properly, it will just take longer to figure out! /images/boards/smilies/wink.gif

How is this fair...? You might as well can the proxy racing, can the streaming, make it a local race only, and be done with it.

You can win Proxy... As long as u take good note... I've notice there's is a lot of fast cars and racers that proxy.. They just need to be a little neater and work on gaps and inner wheel edge.. NOTES EACH RACE IS HUGE...The main reason I went live was to take a lot of notes and learn the track and lanes of the track. I trust that my proxy racing will step way up since going live an event. I think it helped being live for the 63 feet , far as 42ft.. That's a standard track length we all race on...

JBD is just now getting into his rhythm, same with Minions. Them dogs are far from hitting their inevitable plateau.

New breakthroughs in speed happen exponentially and it's about to get crazy. A new class of the super elite that even big dogs can't touch is evolving before our very eyes. Like in the movie the Time Machine how there were the Morlocks living underground. In the future there will be the Pro class and the Super Pro Class.

I would have to say that a bulldog would represent a juggernaut well.

A very stubborn breed. When they get an idea in their head it is difficult to change their mind.

Oh. BTW. Congrats JBD! Your dogged determination has paid off.
