    Hello Everyone,

Its scout season again and wanted to share the progress with this years build so far. Race is on Saturday and I am planning on tuning and graphite tomorrow night for check in on Friday. They added the 4 wheels touching the track rule again this year so if anyone has advice or instructions on how to tune with 4 wheels please reach out to me. Thanks to all for the advice over the last few years.

Sorry can not see your pictures.

4-wheel touching rule ... I have never done this, so take it for what it is worth. I have read about it and it makes perfect sense.

Set the car up the same as a 3-wheel rail runner. Then also bend the NDFW axle a small amount. Then adjust the NDFW so that it "helps to steer" the DFW into the rail. However, turn it just far enough that it barley touches the floor/track.

This should create a car that has the steer being mainly affected by the 3-wheel rail runner system with a NDFW that just touches the track and adds a VERY SMALL amount of additional steer to keep the DFW on the rail. This should meet your rules and pass inspection.

Clear as mud? Good Luck! Remember to have fun!!!!

My daughter picked her color , i was steering her towards a pink or purple and she kept going back to gold so she got what she wanted. There is a little subliminal reasoning as well, we were runner up last year to a car clearly purchased online so yes going for the gold would be the happy comeback

    TWarwick,

Did my explanation of how to set up the 4 touching make sense? If not, I can try again......

I had heard that method before, and i went with it. We tuned the car tonight and i had a nice steer set with 3 wheels at 3 inches but I bent the 4th axle way too much, live and learn , and no matter how i adjusted it it was steering over 7 inches. but all 4 wheels are touching .... thats the important part right .

    Nice car!

We have a similar issue with our pack/district. Four wheels must touch with the addition that all wheels must be able to push a dime. Add into this that we can't use bent axels and no intentional camber.
