FINALLY have a car ready to send in. It's time to find out exactly how much I don't know. :)

My plan at the beginning of the year was to have one in for the February races, but cub scout builds, girl scout builds, and the table saw incident set me back a bit. Better late than never I guess.

Tested and tuned tonight and it's the fastest car down my 30' track by .015 second. Was hoping for .020, but I'll take it. Curious and way nervous to see how it runs on a 40' aluminum track.

I'll have it packed up tonight and sent out to NPWDRL for BASX AM on Friday. (Hopefully it gets there in time) If it does ok there I'll tweak it some more and send it here for BASX on the 29th.

Hope to join you racing in the Fall, what's your car's name? I'm going to try and watch the races live.

Super nice car. Love the translucent red covering.

TIP: Tune your NDFW for more speed. Can not tell if you did from the picture.

Lol!! Hurricrane already set me straight on that one. Worst part is he told me before I actually shipped the car out. But I had been up til 2:00 am with final assembly, getting it tested, tuned, and packed up for shipping and really didn't feel like opening the box back up, so I just shipped it as it was...

Yesterday I decided to test locking the lifted wheel with one of my graphite cars... I instantly regretted not unpacking that car... I was amazed how much speed was gained just locking the wheel, and I imagine there's even more to be gained by tuning the angle.

Lesson learned. That'll be the first thing I do when I get it back.

And thanks for the compliment on the car. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'm not sure if it'll be fast, but at least it looks cool. :D

What is the best way to lock the NDFW and its purpose. Haven't heard of or thought of that speed tip.

It's always nice to hold back a little speed to throw off the competition! LOL

Just push the axle in until the wheel won't move :)

Basically, making a part move uses energy. If the wheel can vibrate and/or turn, it's a potential energy sink. Pinning it to the car makes it part of the body for all intents and purposes.

Additional gains can be had by tweaking the angle of elevation/attack to reduce aerodynamic losses from the wheel. I am not super clear on if there is a "best" angle for this or if every car is a little different in this regard, so I'll wait for those with more experience in that regard weigh in. I'm hoping to build for BASX next month, so I'll be listening...

That's my philosophy as well. If I can't be fast, I should at least look handsome as I slowly roll by...

Hey Ironband, I had you confused with Loud2ns, and thought you were racing Blue Flame. (Got a little confuzzled in my excitement :)) Were you racing? And if so, which car?
